Job summary

The Maryland Department of Health – Howard County Health Department is seeking a Medical Care Program Associate Supervisor to direct daily operations of the Maryland Children’s Health Program (MCHP). Interpreting policies, guiding staff, and ensuring timely, accurate service will be core duties.

This position offers hybrid telework options. The role includes supervising I–III levels, preparing fiscal and program reports, and coordinating with state agencies.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Four years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program to include two years applying, interpreting and processing program specific information, policies, regulations and guidelines in a medical care program.
• Notes: candidates may substitute additional general clerical experience for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Candidates may substitute thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs daily operations of the Maryland Children’s Health Program, planning and organizing the work of subordinate staff.
• Oversees and provides guidance to Medical Care Program Associates I–III, monitors on-site and remote performance, and manages HR processes.
• Establishes and evaluates program goals and prepares monthly, quarterly and end-of-year reports.
• Oversees eligibility verification and enrollment processes using MMIS/EVS systems.
• Responds to client inquiries by phone and in person, coordinating with partners and other departments.
• Participates in training and quality improvement efforts; performs other duties as assigned.
