Job summary

Family Health Centers of San Diego is seeking a Billing Specialist to handle high-volume medical billing and third-party payor interactions. You will verify insurance information, prepare and submit claims, and follow up on denials, ensuring accurate data entry and timely payments.

The role requires 2+ years in medical billing, CRT and ten-key experience preferred, and a CA driver’s license is recommended for site travel.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience with high-volume medical billing and 3rd party payors.
• CRT and ten-key experience preferred.
• Graduation from a related technical school or equivalent experience in the medical field preferred.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Travel between sites occasionally required; valid CA driver’s license and auto insurance recommended.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes documentation accurately and promptly per department standards and insurance requirements.
• Creates and sends routine and non-routine claim forms for third-party payors.
• Verifies information for accuracy and completeness; follows up on accounts receivable and denials.
• Performs data entry with accuracy and timeliness; posts payments and updates accounts with denials.
• Works with accounts and payors of moderate complexity and uses independent judgment to resolve issues.
