Care Manager (Medical Billing / Insurance - Patient Support)

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK THE 11:30am - 8:00pm ET SHIFT

Position Summary :

Care Managers are responsible for contacting insurance companies to obtain correct eligibility information, perform benefit investigations, copay assistance, and check prior authorization and/or appeal status. This is a remote position with an option to work in the Durham, NC office.

Primary Responsibilities :
  • Answer inbound calls and assist customers with pharmacy-related services.
  • Obtain client information by answering telephone calls, interviewing clients, and verifying information.
  • Contact insurance companies for benefit investigation and coverage eligibility.
  • Complete prior authorizations with attention to detail and accuracy, then have them reviewed by a clinical pharmacist.
  • Assist patients with enrollment in manufacturer and non-profit organization copay assistance programs.
  • Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service to customers.
  • Participate in educational opportunities and training activities to update job knowledge.
  • Work efficiently both individually and within a team to accomplish tasks.
  • Maintain and improve quality results by adhering to standards and guidelines and recommending improved procedures.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by program management.
Qualifications : Care Manager I
  • High School diploma required; associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or similar patient services experience preferred.
  • Strong time management, planning, and prioritization skills; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Effective presentation skills; ability to motivate others; excellent interpersonal (written and verbal) communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within a team and independently.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and third parties.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, changing work environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Accurate documentation skills.
  • Drive and enthusiasm for customer support.
  • Excellent listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with CRM and integrated telephony platforms is a plus.
  • Previous data entry experience; typing speed of 30+ WPM.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) highly desirable.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $44,600.00 - $66,800.00. Actual offers depend on qualifications, location, schedule, and other factors. Incentives, bonuses, and benefits may also be included.
