Job summary

Border Area Mental Health Services, Inc. (BAMHS) dba Southwest Counseling Center (SWCC) is seeking a detail-oriented Billing & Coding Specialist in Southern New Mexico.

You will code medical and behavioral health services, submit claims, manage denials, and ensure billing accuracy in accordance with payer rules and HIPAA. The role requires strong knowledge of CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10-CM coding, EHR systems, and professional communication with payers and providers.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and payer regulations.
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM coding systems.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and billing software.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and assign CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM codes.
• Prepare and submit electronic claims for medical and behavioral health services.
• Manage denials, appeals, collections and patient inquiries regarding billing.
• Maintain accurate patient and insurance records and perform audits.
