Job summary

Digitech, part of the Sarnova family, is seeking a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist II for a remote role. You will ensure accurate and timely billing across EMS payors, maintain regulatory compliance, and support the revenue cycle with strong quality metrics.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years EMS billing experience, is detail-oriented, and willing to obtain QMC Biller Certification. A CAC certification is preferred, and experience with EMS billing platforms is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years EMS Billing experience preferred.
• Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) preferred.
• Willingness to attain QMC Biller Certification upon employment.
• Strong attention to detail and knowledge of EMS billing rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review PCR to ensure medical necessity, reasonableness, modifiers, level of service, ICD10 code and mileage.
• Complete the Billing quality scrub process.
• Review PCS for validity, if required.
• Place claim on appropriate tag when additional information is needed.
• Attend and participate in daily Billing team huddles.
• Maintain billing accuracy scores and comply with HIPAA policies.

Summary:

The Billing Specialist II (BSII) plays an important and fundamental role in Digitech's RCM process by ensuring claims are coded and billed accurately and on time. The BSII must maintain a strong working knowledge of billing rules and regulations for all payor types across the various regions in which they process claims. The BSII must be detail-oriented and driven by the highest quality standards. The BSII is a second-level, more experienced Billing Specialist who consistently performs as a top producer in both daily production and quality metrics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Utilize Master Billing Guides and other process instructions to review PCR to ensure medical necessity, reasonableness. appropriate modifiers, level of service, ICD10 code and mileage
• Complete the Billing quality scrub process
• Review PCS for validity, if required
• If additional information is needed, place claim on appropriate tag
• Attends and actively participates in daily Billing team huddles
• Consistently achieves Billing Specialist II performance and quality metrics
• Provide accurate billing in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures
• Demonstrate biller competency by achieving and maintaining billing accuracy scores that meet or exceed expectations during quality assurance and audit activities
• Adhere to all Digitech HIPAA privacy policies and procedures. This includes alwaysmaintainingthe confidentiality and security of sensitive patient information
• Additional job duties as assigned

Skills/Experience Required:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years EMS Billing preferred
• Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) preferred
• Demonstrated ability or willingness to attain QMC Biller Certification upon employment
• Very detailed-oriented
• Strong, working knowledge of EMS billing rules and regulations and understanding of health insurance payor groups (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial)
• Ability to identify problems and elevate issues appropriately to a Billing Lead
• Ability to quickly adapt, learn and retain changing rules and specifications by clients, payors, states and MAC regions
• Quality-focused and driven by process
• EMS billing platform knowledge (preferred)
• Ability to independently manage all aspects of the job role including required goals and business practices in a remote environment
