Job summary

The Medical Billing Analyst at Albany Med Health System (AMHS) performs intermediate billing tasks focused on rebillings, denials, and denial rebuttals. The role requires independent work, quick learning, and strong communication with payers and internal teams to resolve complex edits and minimize aging AR.

Proficiency with payer portals, Epic and related systems is expected, with a collaborative approach to coordinate with coding and departments to improve reimbursement outcomes and reliability

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Prior office experience preferred.
• Medical Billing or claims knowledge preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and web tools.
• CCS-Certified Inpatient/Outpatient coder preferred upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Resolve intricate billing edits and rebill when needed.
• Follow up on No Response Work Queues and payer communications.
• Locate denials or remittances via payer websites as required.
• Respond to denials with documentation or appeals as needed.
• Collaborate with internal departments and coding for resolution.
• Identify payer trends and report to leadership to mitigate denials.
• Maintain detailed notes to support next steps in follow-up.
