Job summary

Urban Health Plan is seeking a Medical Biller Specialist I to process claims for assigned providers and facilities. You will review medical documentation to bill services correctly and submit claims following ICD-10, CPT coding, and payer guidelines, while joining a dedicated Finance Practice Management team.

The role is remote with monthly onsite duties in Bronx, NY for meetings and training. NYC local residents only; training requires onsite presence.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical Billing Certification required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and Medical Terminology required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
• Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (eClinicalWorks a huge plus) required.
• Bare minimum of 1-2 years of direct experience in medical billing required.

Responsibilities

• Review the provider's medical notes in eCW to ensure documentation supports the service and treatment provided.
• Verify the accuracy of the selected diagnosis and CPT codes following coding guidelines.
• Accurately assign and validate ICD-10, CPT, and applicable modifier codes.
• Communicate with the provider daily when information is needed to process the claim.
• Identify and correct coding and billing errors with CPT and ICD-10 knowledge.
• Submit billing data to the appropriate insurances.
• Correct any denials due to coding errors.

Job description

Position Summary: Reporting to the Senior Director of Practice Management, the Medical Biller Specialist I will process claims for their assigned providers and facilities. The Billing Specialist will review medical documentation to property bill services and treatment provided and submit claims to the payers following ICD-10, CPT coding and insurance guidelines.

Job Description: The Medical Biller Specialist will join a dedicated team of professionals within our Finance's Practice Management Division.

The position is remote, requiring monthly onsite duties based in the Bronx, NY for team meetings and training. While remote incumbents must reside locally to the NYC market and are required upon request to come onsite for training, meetings, and events. (Out of state candidates who are unable to readily commute to New York City, need not apply).

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Medical Billing Certification is required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT Codes, and Medical Terminology is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
• Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (eClinicalworks a huge plus!)
• Bare minimum of 1-2 years of direct experience in medical billing is required (may include internship experience).

Key Duties:

Compensation: $45,560/annum based on 40 hours per week
