Job description

Our client is currently seeking a Medical Authorization Assistant - Prior Auth in Orange County, CA!

Contract Details:

Duration: 6 months

Schedule: M-F, business hours

Responsibilities:
  1. Receive referral requests via fax, phone, or electronically and enter new service request information into the authorization system.
  2. Collect additional information from the client's health members and providers to complete referral data.
  3. Authorize requested services according to the client's health authorization guidelines, perform data entry into the authorization system, and verify eligibility.
  4. Contact health networks and the client's health customer service regarding health network enrollments.
  5. Assist Medical Case Managers in gathering medical records, obtaining appropriate coding for diagnoses and procedures, and follow up on phone calls as directed by the authorization nurse.
  6. Document all contacts and case information in the system using the standard charting format.
  7. Perform data entry into relevant databases for monitoring, tracking, trending events, and other needs.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare or managed care setting required
