Job summary

Exer Urgent Care in California seeks a qualified X-Ray Technician/Medical Assistant to assist physicians with examinations and treatments. You will prepare rooms, obtain vital signs, and manage supplies while handling radiographic and basic diagnostic tasks under supervision.

Qualified candidates hold a California limited X-Ray permit, CPT I, and a Medical Assistant credential. Experience with EKGs, blood draws, and injections is preferred; strong professionalism is required.

  • Inventories and orders medical supplies.
  • Operates x-ray, EKG and other equipment for routine diagnostics.
  • Gives injections and performs routine lab tests.
  • Inputs data into computer to maintain records.

Summary

The X-Ray Technician/MA will be responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under direction of the Physician.


Job Title: X-Ray Technician/MA
Reports to: Center Manager


The X-Ray Technician/MA will be responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under direction of the Physician.

Major Responsibilities


  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts.

  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

  • Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.

  • Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed.

  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments.

  • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.

  • Operates x-ray, electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests.

  • Gives injections or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests.

  • Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Other Qualifications


  • Current limited X-Ray permit issued by the California Department of Public Health (expanded scope is ideal- to include digital radiography, chest, extremities, and torso-skeletal) is required

  • CPT I certification

  • Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs and IM injections.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and be quick on your feet

  • Neat and professional appearance

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant


Working Conditions


  • Center-Based. Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Travel – up to 5%
