Medical Assistant - Xray performs administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of a medical provider – physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner – in the medical office setting.

The Medical Assistant works closely with the physician in the office clinical setting, assists with direct patient care, and serves as the clinical liaison between physician and patient and between physician and the office staff while providing the radiology function. The incumbent is responsible for promoting communications among all care providers, patients, and office staff regarding the care plan for the patient as defined by the attending physician. The individual attends to patients utilizing age-appropriate principles of growth and development for patients of all ages according to the practice.

Clinical Functions:
  • Taking patients to rooms
  • Obtaining vital signs
  • Assisting with medical procedures
  • Performing phlebotomy
  • Obtaining lab specimens
  • Adhering to safety and infection guidelines
  • Maintaining electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Calculating & administering medications & vaccinations
Administrative Functions:
  • Greeting patients
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Answering phones
  • Clerical & computer work
  • Prior authorizations
  • Billing and coding
  • Faxing
  • Disability & Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of a medical assistant program (or) one year as a Medical Assistant
  • One of: LXMO or LXMOT or RAD or RADT - Must obtain RAD within 6 mos of hire if currently holding RADT.

Desired:

  • One year as a Medical Assistant
