UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their Womancare Associates office in Allison Park. This role involves working in a fast-paced OB/GYN environment and plays a vital part in patient care, supporting providers with clinical and administrative tasks. Success requires strong multitasking skills, flexibility, and the ability to work seamlessly with a team while ensuring a positive patient experience. A professional, adaptable approach and excellent interpersonal skills are essential.

The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with one rotating shift from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm per month. No weekends or holidays are required. Responsibilities include back and front office duties. Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

Applicants will be placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on their experience and education.

Responsibilities:
  1. Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  2. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions, schedule appointments, verify insurance and patient demographics, and manage charts.
  3. Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments, and maintain infection control standards.
  4. Organize patient flow, assist patients during visits, and collect patient information and vitals.
  5. Answer calls, provide patient education, and relay information as directed.
  6. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs; assist physicians with procedures; document patient information.
  7. Comply with regulatory agencies and maintain confidentiality.
  8. Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision.
