The Medical Assistant assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients. New Hire Bonus available for eligible candidates.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage patient flow and perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vitals.
  2. Serve as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction.
  3. Maintain and order supplies as needed; interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff, aligning with Jefferson's values.
  4. Escort patients to exam rooms and verify proper identification.
  5. Record vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  6. Remain proficient with IT systems within the scope of practice and documentation requirements.
  7. Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures; perform EKGs and venipuncture/injections as appropriate.
  8. Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security standards.
  9. Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and ensure smooth office operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  3. Familiarity with medical office procedures.

Education & Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  3. BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire; BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some locations.
  4. Experience in a physician's office or healthcare setting is preferred.
  5. For NJ locations: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  6. For internal Einstein applicants: Current Einstein employees in a Medical Assistant role hired before 7/1/2024 are exempt from certification upon transfer.
