Job summary

Stamford Health's Norwalk Primary Care practice is seeking a passionate Medical Assistant to join our outpatient team. The role offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus and a Monday–Friday, 40-hour schedule with no nights or weekends.

Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required and National Certification is preferred; Heart Saver or BLS is required. Proficiency in MS Office and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification or Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
• National Certification preferred.
• Heart Saver or BLS Certification required.
• Two years job experience is preferred.
• Demonstrates basic computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel).
• Demonstrates strong phone/customer service skills.
• Effective verbal and written English communication.
• Demonstrate willingness to work in a team environment.
• Demonstrate flexibility due to workload changes.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in outpatient practice under supervision of physician/PA/nurse.
• Assist with clinical and clerical duties to optimize patient experience.
• Greet patients in person or by phone and address inquiries.
• Prepare patients for visits, provide gowns, and assist during examinations.
• Support care delivery by assisting providers, preparing specimens, and basic lab tasks.
• Record examination, treatment, and test results in records.
• Schedule procedures, precert and obtain test results.
• Handle prescription calls and messages.
• Complete disability and insurance forms.
• Maintain clinical flow across the practice.
