Position Summary: Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Medical Assistant position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties and assisting with the overall workflow of the physician/medical practice.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily clerical operations, including answering multi-phone lines and making copies of documents as necessary.
  • Ensure patient rooms are kept stocked and clean; equipment is kept clean.
  • Distribute referrals to physicians and insurance companies; keep proper documentation of referral requests/responses in patient charts.
  • Pre-authorize prescriptions and clinical tests (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, etc.) as necessary.
  • Perform clinical duties such as triaging patients, checking vitals, administering injections and venipunctures, and prepping patients for exams.
  • Perform clinical testing including EKG, Holter monitors, PFT, stress test, PAP, ear irrigations, oxygen saturation, vision/color charts, and urinalysis/hemocult tests.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical Assistant certificate required or obtain certification within six months of employment
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required
  • Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Familiarity with medical terminology required
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Office
