Valley Family Medicine is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to join their team in Natrona Heights, PA. This is a Monday through Friday daylight position with no evenings, weekends, or holidays. This role requires travel to Lower Burrell. Free parking is available!
The Medical Assistant will primarily be responsible for rooming patients, refills, medication prior authorizations, referrals, patient calls for results, and front desk duties.

Responsibilities:
- Check schedules and organize patient flow. Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exams, etc. Collect patient information/history; taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients/families.
- Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
- Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Clean rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.
- Comply with regulatory agency requirements (e.g., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain confidentiality of medical records and data. Follow all UPMC policies and procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs. Assist physicians with procedures. Document patient information into the medical record.
- Answer calls and provide pertinent information including patient education as directed.
- Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics. Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed correctly. Handle other front office responsibilities as needed.
- Under supervision of a physician, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment responsibilities are necessary.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- CPR certification per AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration, within 30 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting (with renewal).
- Act 33 (with renewal).
- Act 34 (with renewal).
- Act 73 FBI Clearance (with renewal).
