Job summary

BHMG Baptist Health Medical Group Inc. seeks a Medical Assistant for outpatient clinics with a retention bonus. This role requires travel to satellite locations and on-site presence to support providers.

You will perform direct patient care, obtain vital signs, document histories, manage EPIC, schedule appointments, and assist with tests and procedures. Opportunities to perform EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vaccines may be included after competency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with 1+ year MA experience in a medical office.
• Direct patient care experience: vital signs, history & medications, clinical procedures.
• Graduate from an accredited MA program with hands-on patient exposure.
• Clinical competency assessment and MA orientation required.
• Basic computer skills and EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, collect patient history, and reconcile medications.
• Support workflow: scheduling, prior authorizations, tests and procedures.
• Manage EPIC EMR and coordinate patient flow in outpatient clinics.
• Assist with EKGs, labs, injections or phlebotomy when competent.

Summary

BHMG Urology Retention Bonus! This position requires travel to satellite locations. The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures.

Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on‑site presence to perform the essential job functions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required.
• Experience must include direct, hands‑on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
• Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
• Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant: Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
• Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
• Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
