Job summary

Harris Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Harris Urology team in Sylva, North Carolina. This full-time role supports patient assessments, basic diagnostics, documentation, and an efficient clinic workflow in a fast-paced urology setting.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We offer comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth within Lifepoint Health's network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Medical office experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient assessments and treatments under provider supervision.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection; monitor patient condition.
• Document patient care and maintain examination areas.
• Maintain equipment and medical supplies; stock, clean, troubleshoot.
• Conduct administrative duties: filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Complete additional tasks as delegated by leads/supervisors.

Join our team of healthcare professionals in a fast‑paced clinic which performs in‑office procedures, our office specializes in advanced Urology care. Our team includes highly skilled Urology surgeons to provide exceptional, compassionate care. We are committed to providing personalized and high-quality healthcare in a friendly and welcoming environment.

How you'll contribute

A Medical Assistant who excels in this role:

• Under the supervision of provider, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communication regarding changes in patient condition.
• Documents patient care given.
• Maintains examination areas.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Completes other tasks, within scope of position, as delegated by the practice leads, supervisors, managers or Market Director.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), within 90 days of hire.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, required
• Previous medical office experience, preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred.
