Position Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) is an integral part of the patient care team. Under the direction of the Practice Manager, the MA performs clinical duties and assists Providers to ensure each patient receives timely and effective care. The MA maintains strict patient confidentiality at all times. The MA may also perform general clerical or administrative duties as directed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical duties performed under the provider's direction include:

• Welcoming patients, escorting them to exam rooms, and introducing new patients.
• Interviewing patients, verifying medical information, measuring vital signs, and documenting all information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Confirming allergies, medications, and pharmacy information.
• Assisting with exams and procedures, performing phlebotomy, routine lab tests, and diagnostic testing like EKG and spirometry.
• Preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, managing patient messages, and preparing prescriptions for provider review.
• Scheduling appointments, preparing referrals, and assisting with document reviews.

Adherence to core values and absolutes, and other duties as assigned, are essential.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Medical Assisting Certification
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medications
• Excellent customer service and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year experience with electronic health records
• 1 year office-based physician practice experience
