Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Jackson, MI is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers and nursing leadership in delivering exceptional patient care. You will greet patients, obtain histories, and prepare patients for examinations in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

The role requires completion of a MA program with externship or related clinical experience, BLS, and EPIC EMR familiarity. Full-time hours and 40-hour weeks support a stable schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum).
• Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without externship but with at least 1 year clinical experience in the past 5 years.
• Current Medical Assistant certification with at least 1 year of clinical experience.
• LPN, EMT/Paramedic with 1 year clinical experience in a clinical setting in the past 5 years.
• Military trained medical personnel with 1 year clinical experience in a clinical setting in the past 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring a welcoming experience.
• Obtain and document accurate medical histories.
• Measure and record vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures.

At Henry Ford Urology - Jackson, we provide medical or surgical management for patients with a range of urological conditions, including kidney, bladder and prostate cancer; kidney stones; incontinence; urinary tract infection, bladder prolapse, interstitial cystitis, sexual dysfunction and bedwetting.

SHIFT DETAILS: Monday to Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum), OR Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five years, OR Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of one year of experience in clinical medical assisting, OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years, OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years.
• Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience.
