Job summary

Piedmont Urgent Care is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support occupational medicine services in a fast-paced clinical setting. You will assist with patient preparation, triage, EMR documentation, specimen collection, injections, IV starts, and basic procedures while upholding HIPAA/OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• 1+ year of healthcare experience preferred (urgent care or ER a plus).
• Proficiency in venipuncture, injections, and clinical procedures.
• Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software, EPIC preferred.
• Positive, proactive approach to patient care and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments; ensure comfort and understanding.
• Perform triage and take vital signs accurately.
• Document detailed patient history in EMR in a timely manner.
• Collect routine laboratory specimens (blood, urine, oral swabs).
• Administer medications and injections (IM, subcutaneous, intradermal).
• Start IVs, place catheters, and perform splinting as needed.
• Perform basic clinical, aseptic, and lab procedures.
• Assist with Occupational Medicine services: drug screening, breath alcohol testing, audiograms, and pulmonary function testing.
• Enforce HIPAA and OSHA compliance.
• Perform general administrative tasks and operate medical equipment.
• Oversee quality assurance programs and CLIA waived lab requirements.
• Travel to other Piedmont Urgent Care locations as required.
