UF Health in Florida is seeking a professional Medical Assistant to support administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician. The role will require traveling between Urgent Care Clinics to provide coverage.

Responsibilities include preparing examinations, performing point-of-care testing, vital signs, vaccines, phlebotomy, injections, charting, and coordinating patient flow.

Responsabilidades

• Performs physical examination preparations, point of care testing, vital signs, vaccines, phlebotomy, injections, prescription verification with physician’s orders, minor surgery assists, and bio-hazard waste disposal.
• Fulfills environmental responsibilities including restocking and cleaning exam/procedure rooms to maintain infection control, cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records.
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities including sending/receiving patient medical records, prior authorizations, referral information, etc., completing forms/requisitions, verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics, and managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately.
• Fulfills patient care responsibilities including scheduling and patient flow, assisting patients for exam preparation, collecting patient history, charting, and relaying instructions to patients.
• Adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, quality control methods, and the MA scope of practice.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by management within job scope

Overview

Qualifications

Requirements

• High School Degree or a GED.


• Must be graduate from approved Medical Assistant program.


• Less than one year - Medical Assistant experience required


• More than one year Medical Assistant experience preferred

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Must obtain medical assistant certification within 6 months of date of hire/transfer into the position.


• Current BLS from the American Heart Association.
