Are you looking for a busy work environment? The UPMC Urology of Central PA office is seeking a new Medical Assistant to join their team. This office has multiple providers and APPs that this Medical Assistant will work alongside. The ideal candidate should have excellent customer service skills and be eager to learn.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. No weekends or holidays.

Required hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The salary range is $18.12 - $27.76, based on experience.

The Medical Assistant will support physicians with various patient care tasks, including clerical, environmental, and organizational duties to ensure patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist patients to exam/procedure rooms and support them with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and preparation for exams.
  2. Gather patient information, record vitals, and perform screenings as per provider guidelines.
  3. Relay instructions to patients and families clearly.
  4. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  5. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
  6. Complete necessary forms and requisitions.
  7. Manage and prepare patient charts, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and update patient demographics.
  8. Prepare exam rooms, set up instruments and equipment, and maintain infection control standards.
  9. Monitor inventory and restock supplies as needed.
  10. Coordinate patient flow and answer calls, providing education as directed.
  11. Assist physicians with procedures and perform clinic tasks per policy.
  12. Comply with OSHA, CLIA, and state health regulations.
  13. Maintain confidentiality of medical records and data.
  14. Follow all UPMC policies and procedures.
  15. Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision when appropriate.
  16. Perform front office duties as required and other assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology and clinical responsibilities.
Senior Medical Assistant Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent (LPN/RN/EMT), or certification (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA), or at least 1 year of patient care experience.
  • Proficiency in practice-specific tasks.
  • Basic computer skills and medical knowledge.

Applicants will be assigned the appropriate job title and salary based on their experience and education from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • CPR certification within 30 days of hire, based on AHA standards.
  • Clearances dated within the last 90 days.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
  • Act 34 clearance.
