Description

Munson Medical Group Heart & Vascular Office, located at 1200 Sixth Street, Suite 200, Traverse City, Michigan, is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for day shifts, Monday through Friday. We are Northern Michigan’s largest healthcare system, deeply committed to our community. Our patients are often our family, friends, and neighbors, and caring for them is a privilege.

As a Medical Assistant, you will support physicians and advanced practice providers at our community-based clinics and outreach locations across Northern Michigan. Your responsibilities include preparing patients for visits, collecting medical histories, recording vital signs, assisting with exams, blood draws, vaccinations, injections, and supporting administrative tasks such as scheduling, referrals, insurance, pre-authorizations, and billing.

Requirements

Credentialed Medical Assistant:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Credentialing from an approved Munson Healthcare organization, such as:
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCTT) - National Center for Competency Testing
• Certified Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) - American Medical Certification Association
• Other MHC-approved credentials

Note: Hired/credentialed before 3/1/24 will be grandfathered in.

Non-Credentialed Medical Assistant:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program or
• One year of relevant experience in a healthcare setting supporting providers and patients
• Experience with EMR preferred

Certification, Licensure, Registration:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required within 90 days of hire
