This is a paid Medical Assistant training program which includes:

  1. 10 weeks of classroom training
  2. 6 weeks (240 hours) clinical internship

Tuition will be shared by employer and employee. Successful completion of the program will require demonstrating competency in selected skills throughout the program and passing the final exam. The clinical internship will include six weeks of training under the direct supervision of a preceptor/liaison. Classroom work will include attendance of 40 hours per week of education for ten weeks. Program graduates will be prepared to work as a Medical Assistant in a Core Physician's practice.

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or GED

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Perform clinical duties such as assisting provider in examinations, procedures, and obtaining vital signs.
  2. Clean instruments and exam rooms as needed.
  3. Prepare instruments for sterilization as required.
  4. Order and stock exam rooms with appropriate medical supplies.
  5. Call in prescriptions as directed by the provider.
  6. Schedule pre-admission and diagnostic testing, and follow up with patients after surgeries.
  7. Perform administrative duties: answering telephone inquiries, scheduling, organizing patient charts, filing, pulling, and copying patient records.
  8. Maintain and adhere to established Core policies and procedures and federal regulations, including patient confidentiality, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
