Job Description :
This position is a Medical Assistant training program designed for individuals with little to no clinical experience and no formal Medical Assistant training.

The program requires travel to the West Penn Nursing School 2 days per week for hands-on training, while working at a physician's office the remaining three days to practice skills.

Upon completion, candidates must sit for the Certification Exam.

Sign-On Bonus: $1000 for external hires, with conditions:

  • Must stay with AHN for at least 1 year
  • Re-hires within 12 months are ineligible

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role supports clinic patients by performing clinical and administrative tasks to ensure a smooth patient experience and contribute to the healthcare team’s effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in patient care coordination under supervision (14%)
  • Prepare and room patients, obtain vital signs and history, assist with screening tools (15%)
  • Assist providers during examinations and procedures (15%)
  • Follow up with patients via preferred communication method (14%)
  • Prepare exam rooms and manage medical supplies (14%)
  • Perform lab controls and equipment checks (14%)
  • Document accurately in electronic health records (14%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School/GED
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance

Preferred:

  • Previous patient care experience
  • BLS certification
