Summary
Provide exceptional patient experience by delivering friendly, prompt, and quality service to TMCOne’s valued patients. The Medical Assistant (MA) will strive to meet each patient’s individual needs by performing the following primary duties: obtain and secure patient information, prepare patients for examinations, counsel patients by transmitting physician orders, document medical information, and provide basic patient care under the direction of the providers, management, and TMCOne policies. The Medical Assistant will serve as the first point of clinical contact for the office, and will represent TMCOne by demonstrating a professional demeanor towards patients and staff at all times.

Essential Functions
Formulates and implements accurate and timely care while enhancing the patient experience. Escorts patients to and from the exam room, takes vital signs, weight, height, and collects patient information to complete rooming process.
Collects routine urine specimens, cleans catch specimens, stool specimens, and sputum specimens; draws blood from patient when needed and return test tubes to the laboratory.
Performs dressing changes and treatments using aseptic technique.
Performs EKGs.
Routinely checks expiration dates and ensures all medications are properly stored and expired drugs properly disposed of.
Maintain control logs and competencies to adhere with TMCOne protocols.
Obtains prior authorizations, manages referrals, assists with the scheduling of procedures and performs other related tasks to assist providers and patients.
Calls patients regarding test results, follow-up appointment visits, and missed appointments. Schedules patient visits and assists with their medical needs.
Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and discharges; monitors and restocks supplies.
Gathers/opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures.
Charts observations and vital signs on assigned patients in legible, accurate and appropriate format following procedures
Promotes a safe therapeutic e nvironment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care.
Participates in the orientation of new personnel and in the ongoing in-service education of the team; participates in ongoing staff education.
Receive, assess, and transfer phone calls, and messages within the department with courtesy and promptness.
Posts information to records; maintains files and records; i nputs and retrieves data utilizing knowledge of various computer software packages.
Updates knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
Transcribes orders; schedules appointments.
Operates a personal computer, calculator, FAX machine, copy machine or related office machinery in performing assigned duties.
Processes patient charges as required.
May perform scribe functions depending on the clinic.
Serves and protects the practice by adhering to TMCH organizational and professional standards, values, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements.
Performs related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION : High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of medical assistance experience preferred.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Medical Assistant Certificate, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Exceptions made for candidates who meet Requirements of Article 4 of Arizona Administrative Code, Chapter 16, Arizona Medical Board (R4-16-401). Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification preferred.
