Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Assistant Temp/Per Diem (Temp Program).

In this role, the successful candidate will assist physicians, Advanced Care Practitioners, and nurses in providing patient care. Responsibilities include validating patient identifiers, preparing patients and rooms for examinations, measuring and recording vital signs, drawing blood, and collecting lab samples. The Medical Assistant also handles administrative tasks such as scheduling, answering calls, and data entry.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Escort patients to exam rooms
  • Clean and stock exam rooms
  • Measure and record vital signs
  • Obtain and process blood samples following NYULH policy
  • Support quality initiatives by following FGP guidelines for documentation in the EMR
  • Promote a positive patient experience
  • Communicate effectively with providers and staff, escalate issues as needed
  • Answer phone calls and respond to messages
  • Follow up on prescription refill requests
  • Assist with patient intake and transcribing visits into EPIC
  • Perform other duties as needed

Clinical & Administrative Responsibilities include obtaining patient vitals, maintaining records, supporting patient flow, ensuring cleanliness, supporting clinical safety standards, and assisting with procedures and documentation.

Patient Experience and Access:

  • Serve as NYU Langone Health Faculty Group Practice Brand Ambassador
  • Greet patients professionally and communicate clearly
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure positive experiences
  • Proactively address patient needs and support service recovery

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program, or current certification from a recognized body (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA). Demonstrated English proficiency and computer skills. Ability to multitask and work well in a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a Medical Assistant, EKG, phlebotomy, and venipuncture skills preferred.

Qualified candidates must communicate effectively at all organization levels.
