Job Description

Responsibilities:

The Medical Assistant assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients. Responsibilities include managing patient flow, performing diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and recording vitals. Acts as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction. Maintains and orders supplies for their area as needed.

  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff in line with Jefferson's values.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and verify proper identification.
  • Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history.
  • Remain proficient with information technology systems within scope of practice.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and perform EKG and venipuncture/injections as appropriate.
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security standards.
  • Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and ensure smooth office operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire. BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some locations.
  • Experience in a physician's office or healthcare setting preferred.
  • For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in administering intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  • For internal Einstein applicants only: Medical Assistant certification is not required for current Einstein employees in a Medical Assistant role hired before 7/1/2024 when transferring within Einstein entities.
