This position requires travel to Mechanicsburg and Carlisle on a weekly and monthly basis. Reliable transportation is a must.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, anywhere from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no weekends or holidays.

The salary range for this position is $18.12 - $27.76, based on experience.

This position also qualifies for a $1500 sign-on bonus.

The Medical Assistant will assist physicians with various aspects of patient care, including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks, ensuring patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
  1. Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms.
    • Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and preparation for exams.
    • Collect patient information/history, take vitals, and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
    • Relay instructions to patients and families.
  2. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  3. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
  4. Complete forms and requisitions as needed.
  5. Manage and prepare patient charts, schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and update patient demographics.
  6. Prepare patient rooms and set up instruments and equipment according to protocol.
  7. Clean exam/procedure rooms and instruments between visits to maintain infection control.
  8. Manage inventory of supplies and restock as needed.
  9. Check schedules and organize patient flow.
  10. Answer calls and provide relevant information, including patient education.
  11. Assist physicians with procedures.
  12. Comply with OSHA, CLIA, and state health regulations.
  13. Maintain confidentiality of medical records and data.
  14. Follow all UPMC policies and procedures.
  15. Under supervision of a physician, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
  16. Perform other front office and clinical duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment responsibilities.
Senior Medical Assistant Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent (LPN/RN/EMT), or certification (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA), or at least 1 year of patient care experience.
  • Proficiency in practice-specific tasks and basic computer skills.

Licenses, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • BLS or CPR certification.
  • Act 34 clearance.
