The Senior Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care under the supervision of physicians or advanced practice providers in an outpatient setting. Acts as a leader to promote quality care and mentors for professional practice.

Responsibilities

  1. Report to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager regarding operational issues.
  2. Participate in quality initiatives, goal setting, and clinical outcome improvements.
  3. Communicate professionally and effectively with patients and families.
  4. Collaborate with administrative and operational staff.
  5. Collect patient data through interviews and observations.
  6. Assist patients and families in preparing for examinations.
  7. Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
  8. Demonstrate competency in practice-specific tasks and skills.
  9. Provide routine treatments and administer approved medications as ordered.
  10. Enter medication, lab, and imaging orders into the electronic system under provider guidance.
  11. Document patient data, treatments, procedures, and education according to policies.
  12. Coordinate scheduling and specialty testing or consultations on behalf of patients.
  13. Handle calls professionally, using sound clinical judgment.
  14. Contribute to the orientation and training of Medical Assistants, acting as a preceptor as needed.
  15. Support quality strategies within the practice.
  16. Participate in the Annual Clinical Review process for Medical Assistants.
  17. Assess ongoing competence of Medical Assistants in collaboration with clinical leadership.
  18. Lead and participate in departmental committees and projects.
  19. Maintain regular, punctual attendance per policies and regulations.
  20. Ensure compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

  • Be aware of legal and patient rights issues, complying with regulatory standards.
