Job summary

SGMC Health in Valdosta, GA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support APRN and physician teams in a busy Cardiac Electrophysiology clinic.

You'll prepare patients, assist with procedures, transcribe notes to the EMR, handle scheduling and precertifications, and perform light phlebotomy as needed; strong office skills and CPR are required.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• One year experience in clinical area preferred.
• Current CPR Certification.
• General office skills and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination and assist with procedures.
• Accurately transcribe information into the EMR.
• Perform clerical duties and operate office equipment.
• Assist in scheduling and obtaining precerts for surgeries.
• May perform phlebotomy as needed.

SCHEDULE

Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, 8-5 Monday- Thursday 8-1 Friday

Position Summary

Assists APRN and physician by preparing patient for examination. Assist with patient care including procedures. Must be able to accurately transcribe into patients electronic medical record. Performs clerical duties and must be able to operate office equipment, computer. Assist in scheduling and obtaining precerts for surgeries. May perform phlebotomy with no waived testing.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• One year experience in clinical area preferred.
• Current CPR Certification.
• General office skills and medical terminology preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION

Works primarily in the medical office setting, consistent shift and unit. Requires moderate to frequent lifting (excess of 50 lbs), bending, and assisting in same, using correct techniques. Must be able to operate office equipment, computer terminals and keyboards, computerized lab equipment. Likely to be exposed to blood and body fluids and infectious diseases. Requires extensive walking during shift.
