Job summary

Minimum education is a high school diploma or GED and completion of an approved Medical Assistant program, with preference for 1 year of related clinical experience. EMR proficiency is required and a $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• 1 year of related clinical patient care experience within the last 5 years, preferred in lieu of a Medical Assistant program.
• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communications.
• Demonstrated patient care skills.
• Demonstrated PC skills.
• Effective organization of multi-task role.
• Understanding of healthcare delivery processes in the medical office.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and documents general condition, including chief complaint, vitals, weight, medications and social history.
• Records services and diagnoses for encounter forms, requisitions and consent forms.
• Assists provider with examinations, procedures and treatments per protocols.
• Independently performs ancillary services including venipunctures and x-rays per protocols.
• Maintains medical records and prepares charts and test results.
• Coordinates care via calls, scheduling, refills, and prescriptions per protocols.
• Operates EMR and computer systems per policies.
• Tracks tests, procedures and referrals per protocol.
• Administers medications as directed by physician orders.
• Determines eligibility and obtains authorization for services.
• Schedules tests and referrals and tracks follow-ups.
• Provides patient education to promote wellness.
