Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is hiring a Medical Assistant to support patient care under supervision in Texas. You will assist physicians and nursing staff, prepare exam rooms, collect specimens, and ensure compliance with infection control and confidentiality policies.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, documenting in records, and coordinating care with the clinical team. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered for external candidates and a comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to react calmly in emergencies
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Bilingual is a plus

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within the Medical Assistant scope of practice under supervision
• Operates diagnostic equipment and collects specimens
• Prepares and sterilizes equipment
• Rooms patients and prepares for examination
• Documents patient care accurately in medical records
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians
• Maintains patient confidentiality
• Follows infection control and policy procedures
• Completes mandatory training
• Performs other related duties as assigned
