Job summary

Down East Community Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to support care within the physician department. The role involves greeting patients, taking vitals, updating medications, assisting in procedures, and performing phlebotomy as needed.

The ideal candidate will hold a Certified Medical Assistant degree or equivalent training and possess CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification within 90 days of hire, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain compliance with policy and privacy

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assisting degree or appropriate training.
• CMA, RMA or CCMA certification with 90 days of hire.
• Able to interact with patients, families and staff with professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Greets and prepares patient for office visit or outpatient procedure.
• Obtains vital signs and weighs each patient.
• Updates problem and medication list at each patient visit.
• Assists in procedures requested by the medical provider.
• Performs phlebotomy as needed.
• Maintains sterilization of instruments.
• Refills prescriptions and calls per provider orders.
• Screens calls and supports department quality indicators.
• Complies with hospital policies and privacy requirements.
• Provides coverage for other DECH physician offices when necessary.
