Job description

Job Title: Medical Assistant

UPMC is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for their University OB/GYN office in Wexford, PA. This role offers Monday through Friday hours, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays required.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Guiding workflow and assigning tasks to clinical staff.
  2. Assisting management with supervisory activities, departmental goals, and staff training.
  3. Serving as the department super user for Epic Care.
  4. Identifying opportunities for process improvements and communicating procedural changes.
  5. Managing patient records, scheduling, insurance verification, and front office duties.
  6. Preparing exam rooms, maintaining infection control, managing supplies, and organizing patient flow.
  7. Assisting patients with transfers, collecting specimens, taking vitals, and providing education.
  8. Answering calls, administering medications/vaccines under supervision, performing phlebotomy, EKGs, and assisting with procedures.
  9. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a 1:1 setting with a provider.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program, certification, or at least one year of patient care experience.
