Summary

As a Medical Assistant (MA) in our senior living facility clinic, you will play a vital role in supporting clinical operations. You will work closely with our providers, ensuring that residents receive the highest quality care. Your contributions will help streamline workflows and enhance the overall patient experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Start each shift by updating the daily clinic census.
  • Assist the NP rounding within the clinic and organizing requests from nursing staff.
  • Collect and organize labs, orders needing signatures, dietary recommendations, pharmacy recommendations, and nursing concerns for NP review.
  • Develop and prioritize a daily schedule for the NP.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, Medication Administration Records (MAR), and orders for each patient.
  • Retrieve necessary medical records from hospital systems and the facility's EMR for NP review.
  • Scribe portions of the medical record in gEHRiMed as requested by the NP (excluding HPI, Physical Exam, Assessment, or Plans outside the immediate presence of the MD/NP).
  • Triage patient paperwork with the NP to assist with their daily schedule.
  • Maintain the NP's calendar for follow-up visits.
  • Coordinate and document the follow-up (re-evaluation) schedule for the NP.
  • Obtain chief complaints and vital signs for the NP prior to resident visits.
  • Complete demographic information and chronic conditions on charts as requested by the NP.
  • Answer intercom calls for the NP and communicate with the NP while in the clinic.
  • File and maintain necessary documents for the NP.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic medical terminology knowledge required
  • Proficient in navigating Electronic Health Records, typing, and general comfort with technology
  • Experience in a medical office, both front office and back office, preferred but not required
  • Good organizational skills required
  • Ability to assess basic vital signs required
  • Reliable transportation to/from job sites required

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Certification

  • Registered or Certified Medical Assistant preferred
