Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for a full-time role in Ridgefield, CT. The position supports clinical and clerical operations in a primary care setting, assisting with patient intake, vital signs, and EMR documentation. Mon–Fri, 8-hour shifts between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.

The ideal candidate will have data entry experience in a medical office, at least 1 year of MA/secretary experience or related training, and CPR certification. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Medical Assistant – Full Time – Mon‑Fri, 8‑hour shifts between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm; Ridgefield – Primary Care.

Summary

Provides clinical and clerical support to assure smooth daily department operations in assigned medical practice or practices, and ensures the patient and examination area are properly prepared.

Responsibilities
  • Greets patients and escorts them from the waiting room to the clinical area, performing all necessary intake activities and documenting vital signs, medications, allergies, and verifying EMR details.
  • Transcribes and updates patient information in the record, including demographics, medication history, and social/medical history.
  • Performs clerical and secretarial tasks associated with patient care, prepares and organizes charts for providers, and completes paperwork such as disability forms and scanning of pertinent documents.
  • Maintains EMR Orders Reconciliation process as assigned.
  • Ensures the examination area is clean after each patient and stocks supplies; performs environmental rounds on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Prepares patients for scheduled visits, assisting with gowns, paperwork, supplies, and educational materials for provider use.
  • Conducts in‑office testing and coordinates testing and ancillary services as directed by the provider.
  • Collects, prepares, and processes specimens, ensuring results are recorded in the accession book and reconciled in the patient’s record.
  • Maintains inventory and oversees the upkeep, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies; fills out appropriate logs.
  • Coaches and educates colleagues in office procedures and techniques as new members join the group.
  • Performs pathology and other audits as assigned by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates and maintains practice‑based competencies for in‑office surgical procedures, including sterile technique and room turnover under RN direction.
  • Interacts with patients and colleagues in accordance with Western Connecticut Medical Group service excellence standards.
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

High School graduate or equivalent.

Required: Data entry; 1 year MA/Secretary experience, or new graduate of a Medical Assistant program, Nursing Assistant training, or EMT certification, or 3 years job‑related experience in a medical office.

Minimum experience: 1 year.

Desired: CPR certification; bilingual preferred.

Manual: Some manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity. Occupational risk: little or none. Physical effort: medium to heavy; may exert up to 35 lbs. Physical environment: generally pleasant working conditions.
