Position: Medical Assistant

Location: San Diego Metro Area

Salary Range: $22.00 - $26.00 (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team. This role supports our practice by delivering high-quality, patient-oriented care under the supervision of an RN, LVN, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or physician. The ideal candidate will prioritize excellent patient care while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and other direct patient care tasks.
  • Prepare patients for scheduled procedures and assist in assessments.
  • Ensure exam rooms are properly equipped with instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment.
  • Provide appropriate, direct patient care in assigned areas.
  • Perform basic procedures such as simple dressings, perineal care, and urine tests.
  • Take and document vital signs in the EHR system.
  • Safely collect and handle patient lab specimens, reporting results by telephone when necessary.
  • Administer medications accurately and in accordance with policy.
  • Follow infection control protocols and safely handle hazardous waste materials.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to patient comfort, privacy, and progress.
  • Provide health care instructions to patients and their families.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records.
  • Document patient interactions, phone calls, and observations per clinic procedures.
  • Foster positive relationships with coworkers to support departmental objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate or CPR Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months Medical Assistant experience required; 1-2 years preferred.
Competencies & Success Factors
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and Cal-OSHA safety protocols.
  • Experience providing care to newborns, children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic demeanor when interacting with patients and staff.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
