Job summary

Cleveland Clinic in Avon, Ohio is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Rheumatology team. This full-time role supports patient care, medication management, monitoring, and administrative tasks to ensure high-quality outcomes in a welcoming environment.

Shifts run 7:00am–8:00pm with evening and Saturday rotations. Minimum qualifications include completing an approved Medical Assisting Program, completing a clinical externship, and BLS certification; preferred: Medical Assisting Certification

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved Medical Assisting Program (As designated by the Enterprise MA Steering Committee).
• Completion of a clinical externship (Extensive clinical experience may be considered in lieu of formal externship).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA or Red Cross (within new hire period).
• Current demonstrated clinical proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assist with screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance, identifying medication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performing tests and documenting patient care.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Maintain equipment, medical supplies and examination areas.
• Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.

As a Medical Assistant on this team, you will collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients, families and visitors. They are always engaged in research to expand scientific understanding of rheumatologic conditions and finding new treatments to help.

This is a full-time role. A caregiver in this position will work 7:00am to 8:00pm with an evening and Saturday rotation.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an approved Medical Assisting Program (As designated by the Enterprise MA Steering Committee)
• Completion of a clinical externship (Extensive clinical experience may be considered in lieu of formal clinical externship)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (within new hire period)
• Current demonstrated clinical proficiency
• Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Medical Assisting Certification
• Successful completion of Cleveland Clinic Externship

Physical Requirements:

• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
• May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
• Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
• Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
• Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
• Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $19.75

Maximum hourly: $27.75
