Northeast Community Clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and front-office operations. You will perform vital signs, phlebotomy, injections, and assist with patient exams under physician direction.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certificate or CMA required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current BLS Certification required.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and sign in/out patients; complete forms and obtain signatures.
  • Check charts for completeness and signatures.
  • Counsel individuals about program services.
  • Perform phlebotomy, injections, vital signs, assist with exams as directed.
  • Route patients to maintain clinic flow and assist providers.
  • Maintain and stock dispensary; clean and stock exam rooms.
  • Process lab specimens per protocol; file lab results.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant will perform various patient care activities and related services under the direction of the professional staff. Duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.

The Medical Assistant will perform various patient care activities and related services under the direction of the professional staff. Duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.

Schedule
  • Flexible, may require some evening and weekends
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Interviews and exits patients, completing appropriate medical agency and consent forms, ensuring patient understanding and obtaining signatures.
  • Checks chart for completeness, errors, signatures and appropriate assembly.
  • Counsel individuals who need information concerning program services.
  • Perform phlebotomy, injections, vitals, assist with patients exams if deemed by provider, including visual acquits, audiometric screening, patient venipuncture and injections.
  • Route patients to maintain appropriate clinic flow.
  • Maintain and stock dispensary
  • Clean, stock and maintain exam rooms.
  • Assist providers as necessary.
  • Process lab specimens per lab procedure manual and medical protocol.
  • Perform paperwork duties as assigned including recording and filing lab results, provide results and fill abnormal test results.
  • Route charts to appropriate person at the end of clinic session.
  • Able to perform front office duties, answering phones, scheduling, chart retrieval and checking‑in patients.
  • Strict adherence to the policy and procedure manual
  • Other duties as assigned by Clinic Manager or Operations Director

Minimum Requirements
  • Microsoft Office/Word/Excel/Outlook

  • Bi‑lingual Spanish/English (preferred)
  • Ability to work as a team player and work independently
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be able to travel from facility to facility
  • This position requires 10 % travel outside the local area.
Required Education/Experience And/or Licensure/Certification
  • Medical Assistant Certificate or Certified Medical Assistant
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Valid State Identification
  • Must maintain active clinical privileges and meet all credentialing & privileging requirements at all times to include, but not limited to, regularly scheduled performance of clinical duties and maintain active and current applicable licenses, certification, diplomas and trainings.
  • Commitment to goals and philosophy of Northeast Community Clinic
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
  • OSHA Category 1 – Involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
  • The work is majority of the time non‑sedentary in nature.
  • The employee is regularly required to communicate, frequently required to use repetitive motions, move, remain stationary, regularly push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must possess mobility to work in a standard office/clinic setting (in some cases both settings) and to use standard office/clinic equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, read printed materials and use a computer, and communicate in person and over the telephone.
