Job description

Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant Registered is responsible for assisting the medical and nursing staff by performing clerical and clinical support tasks as directed. Responsibilities include coordinating schedules for patients and providers, managing patient flow, rooming patients, and taking medical histories. Our Medical Assistants contribute to our Team Medicine approach to collaborative care and benefit from the Virginia Mason Production System, which has transformed healthcare by providing easier access to care, reducing errors, and enhancing patient safety and quality.

Qualifications

We require:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • At least 6 months of experience in a medical office/clinic or graduation from an accredited Medical Administrative Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or Medical Assistant Program
  • Ability to obtain Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R) through the State of Washington, sponsored by Virginia Mason
  • Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R) through the State of Washington, required within 60 days of hire
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Professional demeanor with a positive, upbeat attitude and strong communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, leaders, patients, and physicians

Preferred qualifications include:

  • An Associate's degree or equivalent
