Duly Health and Care is seeking a Medical Assistant for Radiation Oncology at the Lisle/Schaumburg campus. You will support physicians and nurses, prepare exam rooms, assist with procedures, handle patient documentation, and ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

  • Active Medical Assistant certification through one of the following organizations (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares examination rooms for patient visits, including cleaning and stocking supplies.
  • Assists providers with examinations and minor procedures, and handles instrument preparation.
  • Manages patient documentation and lab/test result transcription into the chart.
  • Performs sterilization QA, instrument cleaning, and maintains equipment logs.
  • Assists with charting, messages, and ordering tests in ARIA/EPIC as needed.

We are looking for a Medical Assistant to join our collaborative, physician-led team and help provide exceptional care and support to patients throughout their cancer journey.In this role, you will serve as a primary assistant to physicians and nurses. Escorts patients to exam rooms when requested and assists in obtaining pertinent information as needed.Performs Exams/Procedures:Upon request, assists the Provider (Physician, PA, NP) with examinations and minor office procedures. May assist with instrument handling and exam/procedure preparation. Carries out CPR in patient emergent situations.**Additional Responsibility for CMAs: Practicing within the scope of certification, training, and experience, performs intramuscular, subcutaneous and nebulizer medications as ordered by a physician.Quality Control Procedures:Conducts appropriate sterilization procedure and performs QA for sterilizers and maintains appropriate documentation. Performs autoclave sterilization as directed by duly sterilization procedures. Dispose of biohazardous waste according to OSHA standards. Cleans, disinfects and/or sterilizes instruments and equipment following safety and OSHA standards. Performs routine maintenance on medical equipment. Maintains departmental logs assuring adherence to DMG Safety/OSHA and blood borne pathogen policies and procedures.Patient Documentation:Utilizes appropriate Hyperspace computer functions and interaction with clinic staff and physicians to facilitate patient flow. Assures that lab, x-ray, and other test results are placed correctly in the patient chart. Completes all necessary ancillary service requisition slips. Familiarizes self with necessary department paperwork and is able to identify and complete it. Based on need and direction, provides patients with written department visit policies, HIPAA Rights, medical literature, etc. as requested by nursing team or providers. Assists in managing and directing Messages/In baskets in EPIC. Assists in managing and directing faxes. Assists in ordering and checking on Decipher and Artera testing, Assists in sending imaging discs as needed and delivering imaging discs received to dosimetry team. Assist providers in cancer conference and conference notes. Assists with provider charting and scribing when requested. Assist and communicate to providers with critical charting and patient care needs** While performing patient care duties, the CMA will not exercise independent medical decision making or perform evaluation/assessment activities.**Assist nurse with pharmacy callbacks after demonstrating an understanding of medications as requested. Performs patient callbacks as explicitly instructed by Provider or Nurse. Returns pharmacy faxes to pharmacies after physician approves refills. Appropriate order entry as directed by providers. Appropriate entry of ICD10 codes into ARIA as communicated by providers. Assist in notifying or obtaining signatures for consent and other documentation in ARIA as requested. Assists in scanning documents into ARIA as requested.Office Duties:Calls for hazardous waste pick-ups as necessary. Answers telephones and takes appropriate messages. Conducts appropriate sterilization procedure and performs QA for sterilizers and maintains appropriate documentation. Performs autoclave sterilization as directed by duly sterilization procedures. Ensure rooms are stocked and supplies are available and accessible. Notifies ordering staff of low supplies to restock as needed. Stocks exam rooms and changing rooms as needed with appropriate linens. Notifies appropriate parties if linens are low or not delivered. MA to work with scheduling as needed to ensure patients are scheduled appropriately by MD. Review and communicate and assist with barriers to patient care as directed by Providers, nursing team, or management.Other Duties as Assigned:(Depending on Office Specific Requirements)EDUCATION and / or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:High School diploma or GED and a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant or Paramedic program required.Active Medical Assistant certification through one of the following OR Paramedic License required:American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)American Medical Technologists (AMT)American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)National Healthcareer Association (NHA)CPR or BLS certification required.EXPERIENCE:Preferred one-year experience in a medical setting such as a doctor’s office, hospital or long-term nursing facility.If you are committed to putting our patients first and helping shape the future of care, you belong at Duly.The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $21.43-23.63, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
