Job summary

Trinity Health in Hartford, CT is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to join the Pulmonary Diseases team. In this hands-on clinical role, you will prepare patients for visits and procedures, escort them to exam rooms, takeVitals, and document in the EMR.

You will support providers with treatments, educate patients on inhalers and therapies, and convey post-visit care instructions. The position is day shift, full-time, with opportunities for growth in a collaborative, patient-centered

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of six (6) months of related work experience is required.
• Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance and National Certification as a Medical Assistant are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Obtains relevant history, records in EMR, and documents vital signs.

Position Purpose:

Are you a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant looking to make a difference in the lives of patients with respiratory conditions? Join our Pulmonary Diseases team and play a vital role in supporting patients through their lung health journey. In this important clinical role, you’ll prepare patients for office visits and pulmonary procedures, escort them to exam rooms, take and document vital signs, perform spirometry and other breathing tests, and update medical histories in the electronic medical record. You'll work closely with our providers to assist with treatments, patient education on inhalers and respiratory therapies, and post-visit care instructions. Your empathy, clinical skills, and dedication will help create a welcoming, supportive environment for patients managing chronic conditions such as asthma, COPD, and interstitial lung disease. What you will do:

• Prepares exam and treatment rooms. Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
• Obtains pertinent history, enters into the medical record including chief complaint, medical and surgical history, allergies, medications, and appropriate review of systems, and takes/documents patient vital signs.
• Processes and files all lab/diagnostic test results, correspondence, clinical notes in patients’ chart after they have been reviewed by the physician.
• Coordinates patient flow in the office. Collaborates with receptionist to make certain that patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assists front office personnel by answering the telephone, scheduling patient appointments, and other tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of six (6) months of related work experience is required
• Knowledge of medical assisting normally associated with obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance is preferred, National Certification as a Medical Assistant a plus
