Job summary

Riverside Medical Clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant to support multiple clinical offices across the Riverside area. You will assist physicians by preparing patients, taking vital signs, and ensuring accurate charting and test scheduling.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and Medical Assistant Certification with current BLS. Prior medical group experience is preferred, and the clinic emphasizes teamwork and quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certification with AHA BLS Healthcare is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in examination of patients under physician direction.
  • Maintain accurate patient data and charting; schedule and follow up tests/procedures.
  • Prepare patients for exams, take vital signs and ensure proper consent information.
  • Perform basic clinical tasks including injections, wound care, sterile technique.
  • Explain procedures to patients to gain cooperation and ease understanding.

SUMMARY

Responsible for covering clinical offices based on operational need. Assists in the examination of patients under the direction of a Physician or Allied Health professional, and in accordance with M.A. scope of practice. Thorough knowledge of infection control and aseptic techniques. Responsible for maintaining smooth patient flow by accurate assessment of patients’ needs, thorough attention to physician orders and properly scheduling and follow-up of tests and procedures performed on patient. Act as an intermediary between physician and patients when necessary to more appropriately use the physician time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required. One (1) year medical group experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

Medical Assistant Certification and Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association certification required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Cooperates in the cross training of this position to ensure coverage at all
  2. Collection of patient data to include record keeping to ensure chart is in order. Logs appropriate procedures and Billing and patient charges are kept current. Tick sheets are done accurately and on time. Patient instruction-injections and scheduled medications are documented accurately.
  3. Preparation of Patients to include vital signs, charting, attends to the individual needs of the patient, prepare patient for minor procedures. Ensure that patient has the correct consent information completed.
  4. Demonstrates technical skills by following all safety policies and procedures involving patient care, i.e. injections, handling instruments, cleaning wounds, handling body fluids. Practices good sterile technique involving minor surgical procedures and handling injuries, wounds,
  5. Explain procedure to patient and family to gain cooperation, understanding, and to ease
  6. Prepare treatment room for examination of patients; assist physician with procedures; clean examination rooms and sterilize appropriate equipment after use.
  7. Administer prescribed medication orally or by injection (per policy scope of service) and document time, dosage and route on patient chart.
  8. Perform electrocardiograph (EKG), pulse oximetry, inhalation treatments, and operate other equipment, as certified.
  9. Complete all documentation to ensure accurate medical Assure that physician has signed chart; review physician orders to verify that all orders have been carried out. Return patient charts to medical records.
