Summary of Job Duties: The Medical Assistant (MA) assists in examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of the clinic physician. Responsibilities include conducting patient interviews, recording vital signs, drawing blood, preparing specimens, performing EKGs, and preparing exam rooms. Administrative duties include registering and scheduling patients.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED AND successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered or Certified Medical Assistant
  • One year of Medical Assistant experience
  • BLS (CPR) Certification
  • Ability to perform point of care testing, draw blood, and prepare specimens

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Record patient history and vital signs
  • Advise patients on treatment and medication
  • Collect lab samples and document submissions
  • Manage patient appointment schedules
  • Greet and assist patients professionally
  • Register and check-out patients, handle payments and insurance verification
  • Communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality
  • Build positive relationships with staff and stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned
