Job Description

Under moderate supervision, performs a variety of front and back office duties in the clinic. Provides initial patient preparation, assists physicians in patient care activities, performs procedures under supervision, and provides health education.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

• Assists physicians during physical exams and procedures.
• Prepares patient charts for outside physicians with appropriate forms and documentation.
• Supports scheduling, medical information requests, test results, photocopying, filing, and other tasks.
• Obtains authorizations or referrals as needed.
• Maintains accurate patient charts and documentation.
• Works collaboratively within the team, demonstrating commitment to group goals.
• Records vitals such as height, weight, blood pressure, and temperature.
• Completes patient history, medication documentation, and orders as instructed.
• Performs point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and assists with routine tests and procedures.
• Maintains clinical equipment and reports issues.
• Operates equipment safely and competently.
• Enters patient data into EMR accurately.
• Documents point-of-care results for billing purposes.
• Responds to patient phone inquiries and refill requests with proper documentation.
• Answers phones, screens calls, and communicates messages promptly.
• Prepares exam rooms and notifies staff for supply needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of back-office experience or completion of a medical assistant training program required.
• Current BLS certification required; obtained prior to providing direct patient care.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• CNAs can be trained as MAs.
