The role you’ll contribute:

Reporting to the Practice Manager and under the supervision of the Providers, the Medical Assistant cares for patients and performs a wide variety of patient care activities. Adheres to state, federal and organizational guidelines to ensure quality care and patient safety with support from the Clinical Excellence team. Maintains organization and facilitates patient flow. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all.

  • Creates and owns the patient experience by driving customer service initiatives.
  • Documents and reports all procedures and assessments properly and legibly, in accordance with department policy.
  • Assesses patients during clinical check-in, documents medical information and vital signs, and looks for signs of abuse or neglect, using age-specific guidelines.
  • Performs and administers treatments, medications, and follow-up assessments as ordered by the provider, verifying as needed. Responds appropriately in clinical emergencies and triage situations.
  • Performs diagnostic and occupational medicine testing, including EKG, spirometry, audiometry, titmus, and pulse oximetry. Completes forensic testing collections according to DOT and Florida Drug Free Workplace Guidelines, including urine drug screens, blood/breath alcohol testing, oral fluids, and hair testing.
Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of related work experience OR Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with externship completion OR 6 months relevant experience within an AdventHealth facility
  • CPR Certification
  • Continuous maintenance of BAT and Drug Screen Certifications after hire
  • Current certification and ongoing maintenance by one of the following:
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (“AAMA”)
    • American Medical Certification Association (“AMCA”)
    • American Medical Technologists (“AMT”)
    • National Association for Health Professionals (“NAHP”)
    • National Center for Competency Testing (“NCCT”)
    • National Health Career Association (“NHA”)
    • American Allied Health (“AAH”)
    • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant from NPS
    • National Certification Medical Association (“NCMA”)
Preferred qualifications:
  • Previous urgent care / ED experience
