Job summary

CareNow, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Medical Assistant PRN to join our Kansas team. You will prepare patients for examination, take histories and vital signs, and assist with exam rooms and supplies to support efficient care.

This role emphasizes patient-centered care, teamwork, and compliance with clinical standards. Prior MA experience and familiarity with an electronic health record system are preferred, with opportunities for training and growth within a large support network.

Qualifications

• 1+ year clinical patient setting experience preferred
• Experience using an EHR system helpful
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program or completion of approved Back Office Training Program
• Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is helpful
• Ability to obtain Federal Breath Alcohol Screening and Federal Drug Screening Certifications within 30 days of start preferred
• Military MOS/Air Force codes compatibility noted in job description

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination by taking histories and vital signs
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain supplies and equipment including sterilization
• Give injections and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy
• Assist physicians with splints, dressings, and bandages
• Assist with transfers and scheduling of follow-up care
• Coordinate patient physicals and workplace injuries for partner accounts
• Screen incoming calls for referral to physicians and practitioners

As a Medical Assistant, you will:

• Prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs
• Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments for your patients including preparation and maintenance of supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization
• Give injections, and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy needs
• Assist physicians in applying splints, dressings, and bandages
• Assist with transfers and scheduling of follow-up care
• Coordinate patient physicals and workplace injuries for partner accounts

You Should Have:

• 1+ year of experience in a clinical patient setting is preferred
• Experience using an EHR system is very helpful
• Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Assisting or completion of an approved program Back Office Training Program (BOTP) is required
• Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is helpful
• The ability to obtain a Federal Breath Alcohol Screening Certificate and Federal Drug Screening Certification within 30 days of start preferred
