Job summary

Penobscot Community Health Care's Brewer Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the primary care team. This full-time role runs Monday–Thursday, 7am–5:30pm, with Fridays off, at Brewer Medical Center.

You will assist providers, manage chart reviews and medication refills, prepare patients, administer vaccines, draw blood, and help maintain clinic quality and efficiency while collaborating with the care team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Evidence of Medical Assistant training including essential functions or MA certification.
  • BLS certification must be current or obtained within 2 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers with patient care, treatments, and clinical decisions to ensure quality visits.
  • Room patients, prepare exam spaces, administer medications and vaccines, draw blood, and process labs under provider direction.
  • Conduct chart reviews, manage medication refills, and support pre-visit planning and other clinical requests.
  • Support adherence to quality standards and help implement best practices across the clinic.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to enhance patient experience and clinic workflows.

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Thursday, 7am-5:30pm. Friday and weekends off.

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Evidence of Medical Assistant training including all the essential job functions, knowledge, skills, and abilities listed here in this job description, or MA Certification required.
  • Will have up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Health & Safety Institute. Must obtain within 2 weeks if not current at hire.
  • Initial and maintained Certification is highly encouraged and supported.
Preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants, or CMA- Certification by the AAMA, or RMA- Certification by the AMT, or CCMA- Certification by the NHA. Or prepared to certify within 60 days of hire.
