At CVS Health, we’re building a world of health around every consumer and surrounding ourselves with dedicated colleagues who are passionate about transforming health care. As the nation’s leading health solutions company, we reach millions of Americans through our local presence, digital channels, and more than 300,000 purpose-driven colleagues – caring for people where, when, and how they choose in a way that is uniquely more connected, more convenient, and more compassionate. We do it all with heart, each and every day.

The purpose of a Medical Assistant at Oak Street Health is to gather all necessary medical information regarding our patients to ensure providers have the most accurate information available when making healthcare decisions. Medical Assistants (MA) report to the Practice Manager or Center Operations Specialist. They are vital members of our Care Teams, requiring high levels of flexibility, energy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. MAs build relationships with Oak Street Health members, collaborate with teammates to ensure an excellent patient experience, and support clinical results.

As an MA, your responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting in patient assessment through screenings and routine diagnostic testing during appointments.
  2. Ensuring efficient patient flow, rooming patients timely, completing vital signs, screenings, and medication reviews.
  3. Inventory management and stocking exam rooms.
  4. Responding to patient requests for telephonic support, such as lab results and record faxing.
  5. Administering vaccinations and performing point-of-care tests (e.g., A1C, spirometry, EKGs, blood draws), in accordance with state regulations.
  6. Importing documents into EMR via scanning or PDF upload.
  7. Participating in care team meetings and discussing patient care and clinic operations.
  8. Processing orders for durable medical equipment and requesting medical records from external providers.
  9. Conducting routine quality control checks, including infection control, equipment, and medication expiration checks.
  10. Performing other duties as assigned.
